A study will be carried out to evaluate the procurement and testing in low and middle income countries (LMIC). Part of this project involves observing a selection of regularly performed diagnostic tests in other parts of the world, why certain tests from specific companies are selected and how procurement is carried out. Furthermore the current laboratory supply chain in governmental/private clinics and laboratories will be mapped.

The aim is to identify the added value of introducing mobile phones into the existing and often complicated laboratory supply chains to enable more reliable supply monitoring, improved procurement and better inventory control in LMIC.

This project is carried out by an MSc student and commenced in April 2010. Outcomes of the research will be made available on this site when available. Other mHealth related projects involving students are currently being explored.
