HIV Confidant was tested in 2003/2004 in a district in South Africa, aiming to encourage HIV/AIDS testing by ensuring secure distribution of test results through the use of handheld computers and standard encryption techniques. The project wanted to contribute to enhancing a number of national indicators and addressing excluded groups and problems.
