This programme operated a clinical trial in Kenya starting in 2007 that measured the effectiveness of using SMS in improving patient adherence and response to highly-active antiretroviral therapy (HAART).  The results published in 2010 found that patients who received SMS support had significantly improved ART adherence and rates of viral suppression compared with the control individuals.
